chapter 4

Shinobis aren't supposed to cry.
That is what I was taught,
And that is what I've always believed.
But shouldn't we have the right to show our emotions,
When something's really gone wrong in life?

Sakura stayed in the women's bathroom for about twenty minutes. The crying had smudged her makeup and she looked miserable, she needed to reapply it and fix her hair. It wasn't only her face though. She felt miserable as well.

Sasuke was frozen where she had left him. He remembered a time when she was the one that loved him, and she was the one always trying to reach out for him. Now he was the one struggling to get her, but she wouldn't yield to him, she couldn't, she already had a man. The announcer approached him with an, "are you ok?" which discouraged him even more. He sensed the whole audience staring at him to see his next move and just muttered a yes as he departed the stage.

Sakura had returned to the room just before the start of the auction. Sasuke was already stationed in his place next to Takasugi. From here on it was work, they couldn't slack off or hang around. When Sakura passed Sasuke to stand next to Takasugi she heard a faint, "sorry," but wasn't sure if she'd really heard it or not. She decided not to look up; she didn't want to have her mind on other things while working. The announcer held up the microphone and boomed a welcome to everyone. The people there clapped and cheered for the beginning of the auction. Sakura peered over and couldn't help but notice that one of the auctioned items was an old scroll from the Konoha village. She squinted her eyes as she tried to get a better look at them.

"Mr. Takasugi, what is that scroll?"

"Oh," said Takasugi with a wide grin and showing all of his disgusting yellow teeth. "That apparently belonged to a great Shinobi about a century ago. It's been in our family's possession ever since the Shinobi died, so I believe that there is no Shinobi known to the world that has mastered the jutsu written on it."

Sakura's eyes widened. What if the runaway Jounin weren't after Takasugi at all? What if that was just an excuse to keep the eyes of the guards off the. . .

The lights were suddenly switched off. They heard a crash of glass and the screaming of a woman. The room was in chaos, Sakura had to scream to Sasuke despite how close they were, "Sasuke kun! It's the scroll! Hurry, go to the stage!"

Sasuke heard her, but they were in complete darkness and couldn't see a thing. He decided the only way to get through this was by using sharingan. Through his new eyes he could see the people running around. Two Shinobis were on the stage. "What's going on? Can you see anything boy?" Takasugi was annoyingly screaming.

"They got it," muttered Sasuke watching them take it and attempt to make a quick escape. "Sakura you stay here, I'll try to catch up with them."

"Roger!" screamed Sakura as Sasuke darted for the door and followed the two blobs of Chakura. They made a smooth getaway and were outside the building within minutes. Once he was outside and could see completely Sasuke made a quick attack from behind. He pounded into the one right in front of him, who lost control of where he was going and fell to the ground, right in front of the "POW" building. The other followed his companion to aid him. Sasuke darted right after them.

Once on the ground the enemies joined up with more of Jounin. It was a one against seven battle. Sasuke kicked and punched, trying as hard as he could not to get a blow from the enemy. They attempted to attack him one by one, but his sharingan could see through all their movements. They were quite weak at this stage, he just had to. . .

               "Ar!"

One aimed for him from the back, but was stopped short by. . . "Sakura?"

"We're partners aren't we?" The pink haired girl, now a woman, said winking at him. "I thought you would need some help."

The two of them faced back to back in battle position. "This should be an easy victory. Don't slack off though, stay sharp," muttered Sasuke under his breath.

"Got it," screamed Sakura leaping forward.

The battle continued with a massive amount of kicking and punching, but finally there was only one left. Sakura was dealing with him. "Finally it's just you," she smiled holding up her kunai at the Shinobi, who had a wounded leg.
They thought he would quiver and slouch, but all the Mizugakure Jounin did was snigger. "Such a beautiful woman shouldn't be doing something as violent as this."

Sakura was left with a question mark in her head. Then suddenly she collapsed. "Sakura!" screamed Sasuke running forward. "Sakura, what happened?" he said picking her up, ignoring the Jounin. "Sakura are you al. . ."

               SLASH

"Sakura?" Sakura had cut a deep wound in Sasuke's shoulder. Sakura stood there looking pale and emotionless. Her kunai was in her right hand and she was leaning back with two shuriken in the other hand. The Jounin was behind her, moving his hands in a way that a puppeteer would control a marionette.

"She's under my control now, she'll do anything that I tell her to do," the Jounin sniggered just as Sakura threw two Shuriken at Sasuke.

Sasuke muttered under his breath, "what should I do?"
